Joburg City Theatres (JCT), an entity of the City of Johannesburg, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Security Officer (X2). These permanent roles are ideal for professional security officers who are committed to safety, access control, and the protection of people, assets, and facilities.
JCT operates major cultural institutions including Joburg Theatre and Soweto Theatre and plays a key role in arts and entertainment within the city. Successful candidates will form part of the Building & Security team and report to the Building and Facilities Managers.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered:
- Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent (NQF Level 4)
- Valid PSIRA registration (Grade C or higher)
- At least 1 year of relevant security experience
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 4 hours)
- Basic computer literacy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Good judgement and attention to detail
- No criminal record
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Access control, perimeter patrolling, guarding, and monitoring security systems
- Monitoring CCTV systems and responding to incidents
- Enforcing security policies, procedures, and regulations
- Controlling access of staff, visitors, and vehiclesIssuing and managing access permits
- Escorting visitors within the premises where required
- Conducting walkthrough detection and X-ray baggage checks
- Ensuring unauthorized items and weapons do not enter buildings
- Safeguarding company assets and maintaining accurate security registers
