Duties and Responsibilities
The successful Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver will be responsible for:
- Preparing the vehicle before trips and ensuring safe operation of ultra-heavy duty vehicles.
- Loading, transporting, and offloading goods according to company procedures.
- Completing required documentation and performing administrative duties related to deliveries.
- Ensuring loads are properly secured before departure.
- Checking that vehicles are not overloaded according to the National Road Traffic Act.
- Opening and closing tarpaulins where required.
- Assisting with offloading processes by operating equipment or supervising the offloading procedure.
- Maintaining professional relationships with customers during deliveries.
- Following supervisor instructions and completing assigned duties.
- Keeping the vehicle, uniform, and personal protective equipment (PPE) clean and maintained.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate.
- Grade 10 literacy level with good verbal and numerical communication skills.
- Valid Code EC driver’s licence.
- Valid PrDP (DGP).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving an ultra-heavy vehicle.
- Must be 25 years or older.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Knowledge of defensive driving techniques.
- Understanding of vehicle components and basic vehicle checks.
- Ability to complete vehicle inspections and operate a fire extinguisher.
- Knowledge of vehicle loading techniques.
- Safe driving record and clean criminal record.
