Key Responsibilities
The appointed driver will be responsible for:
- Delivering customer orders safely, accurately, and on time.
- Collecting materials and goods from suppliers and customers when required.
- Loading and unloading products while ensuring items are handled correctly.
- Checking delivery documents, invoices, picking slips, and Proof of Delivery (POD) paperwork.
- Obtaining customer signatures and returning completed documentation.
- Ensuring deliveries are made to the correct locations.
- Planning efficient delivery routes to reduce delays and unnecessary travel.
- Maintaining professional relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Completing daily vehicle inspections and reporting faults or maintenance requirements.
- Keeping company vehicles clean, secure, and in good working condition.
- Following company procedures and road safety requirements.
- Reporting accidents, incidents, traffic fines, or vehicle concerns immediately.
- Assisting warehouse and logistics teams when required.
- Following DEMS Health & Safety, Quality, and ISO procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Valid Code 10/C1 or Code 14 driver’s licence suitable for the assigned vehicle.
- Minimum 2 years’ driving experience, preferably within delivery, logistics, or transport environments.
- Good knowledge of Johannesburg and surrounding areas.
- Understanding of road safety and vehicle safety requirements.
- Ability to read and understand delivery documentation.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy personality.
- Physically fit and able to assist with loading and unloading goods.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proof of South African citizenship will be required.
